Genet lives with her parents and three siblings. Both of her parents work as day laborers, but in 2019 her mother became seriously ill and eventually became bedridden. Since then, Genet’s father has had to focus much of his attention on caring for her mother, which has made it difficult for the family to provide for their children. The Office of Women and Children’s Affairs referred Genet to Hanna Orphan’s Home, where she is now thriving. She is advancing in her studies, is friendly and active, and enjoys being part of the community. Genet occasionally experiences headaches and gastrointestinal issues, but overall, she is doing well under the care of the home.
